Same experience as you when i first got my 09 cougar. Three easy steps to START to learn on how to drive a BCB#1. Trim all the way down on take off.#2. Let it plane off Full Throttle#3. Trim up in Bumps as BCB said and you will NEVER use full trim when achieving full performance (assuming no damage to prop etc.)As far as engine hight. Engine hight will be determined more off of steering torque and water pressure than anything else IMO. Lean to drive it as is, If steering is light and responsive, raise 1/4″ and see what happens, raise motor untill torque gets excessive or pressure drops, then drop it back 1/4″. As far as blow out, blow out happens because of too much venting, removing plugs will only worsen the problem. A LITTLE blow out on brake-over is not the end of the world. I would throw a bigger plug in the prop and see what happens.Ive had my engine VERY high on purpose a few times, the only thing that did was make the boat nearly uncontrollable and slow the boat down. So higher isnt always better. If you can find a BCB owner in your area and take them out, they will do a world of help for you.Good luck, Beautiful boat!
Im from hartford, there arnt many of us around but i have a feeling theres going to become more
True american hero.
New Software, i also found out that if it is cold the pumps will act goofy, so when its cold in the mornings (below 30) ill usually run the pumps up for 10-15 sec and it warms them up and after that they will work fine.
10-4 thanks ill wait a week or two and contact parts for an update. Have a few long trips in a month was hoping for it by then. Thanks again,Greg
I have had guys in my club say they would never buy a BC because of the triangle wells. Until they fished in it and saw how big they were, then they loved them. They are shoulder deep in my FTD and hold a LOT of water.
The pedal is very low profile on the XI5, like 1/2 of what the old MG pedal was. In a perfect world i would have something made that is approximately 1/2 the height and could still access the pedal buttons and have it at floor level. The motor also comes with a remote so if you were fishing more off the bank you could use the hand remote. As far as the install. I can tell you one thing, the motorguide plate that says you can slide it back 5″ is useless because when you do slide it back the motor hits the damn bottom mounting plate. For now i will just loosen the motor up slide it back and then when its in the water lock it back into place. I will get some pictures up when i get a moment hopefully tonight. If i had to do it over again i would probably use the Minn Kota plate that has the set screw so you could slide it back 2 or 3″ and that is all you would probably need.
Have you recently cleaned the livewells? I had cleaned my livewells and then went out fishing and ran the livewells and had the same thing happen, filled the bottom of the boat up slowly. Here i had forgotten to turn the valves off after finishing cleaning and was pumping lake water into the bilge! I felt about 2″ tall after that lol.
Nice road trip to be had! Thank you for all the compliments, it has been a great boat and will make someone very very happy. Also has stereo w/ in seat speakers in it, and umdermount trailer LEDs that are green.
Boat is sold thank you to all that inquired!
