Thanks for all your opinions. I believe Im going to bite the bullet and buy a new BassCat from River Side Marine in Nashville. They had it set up with a 25 Tempest. After I get it broken it Ill update on this prop. – Jason
Thanks to everyone for your input. I’ll pay close attention for the next few trips. BCB your right there was an idle issue and that is what prompted me to take the boat in.

Can you take a look at these photos and let me know if it is a gas line or vent line? http://picasaweb.google.com/jrmeade77/Gas_line Thanks. Jason
I posted some pics. of the screw location to the link above. It measure 2.5″ total and sticks out the back 1.25″. Ill call service tomorrow. Thanks. Jason
This is just a thought on running the transducer cable. I to have an 06 Sabre and am considering putting a hole in the plate where the TM plugs in, and running the transducer cable underneath to come out where the finder is sitting. Should be pretty clean and less clutter in the recessed tray. You also wouldnt have the transducer cable running up to the head and down the TM cable. I just need to find a “clam shell vent” to match the one by the finder. Not sure how it will all come together yet. Still need to exchange my existing skimmer cable. I can send some pics. when Im done if youd like. Just got off the phone with a buddy… His comes up the shaft and breaks off at about 3/4 way up. Then goes to the mount a little ways and then off to the head unit. Hes sending me some pics. tonight. Ill post a link to the pics. – Jason
Sorry posted in wrong spot. – Jason
Here are some pics. of a friends boat and how he mounted the transducer cable to the TM. The last picture is how Im thinking about doing it. http://picasaweb.google.com/jrmeade77/TrollingMotor – Jason
Mike Whitten was kind enough to send me his article on how to install a shoot thru and in it he suggests: “Do not use a quick set epoxy. They can set up with numerous air bubbles between the transducer face and the hull. This kills signal transmission. Devcon Plastic Welder is my choice, but most slow cure epoxy compounds will also work. I have not used it personally, but Ive talked to several anglers who have used Marine-Tex epoxy with good results.” – Jason
I know a guy in E. Tennesse that makes them. He sells them for I think $14 a piece. They are exactly like the Stan Sloan ports at a fraction of the cost. PM me if you want his info. Installing is really easy. Youll need a “step down” drill bit to make the hole big enough. I did it in an afternoon wired them into my acc. switch and they work great. If youre in the Knoxville area and want some help with it let me know. – Jason
Im heading up north of Kenora, Ontario on the English River system on Friday. Been going up there for 15 years. Always have used 8 lb test, recently converting to P-Line Fluorocarbon. Never needed anymore than 8 lb, we troll and drift with half oz. jig heads tipped with minnow or leech. As for Pike go with 15 lb. whatever with a steel leader. Pike fishing is crazy up there, every cast. Ive heard the smallmouth could be spawning up there or have just finished. Dont for get the smallmouth goodies.
Im going to give the motion sensor alarm a try. It may be problematic since the boat sits on a lift on a floating dock though. I recently put on a Mcguard prop lock so hopefully that will do the trick. I think the lok r bar is a great idea, and will be investing in a couple.I still have issue with the flush mounted unit though. I leave in on the lift at night down at the water. Id rather not take it off every night and wish I could lock it to the dash. Ive looked on the interenet and have come up with nothing. I guess the safest way is to remove it every night…What a hassle. Its too bad there are people like this in the world.Thank You.
maybe Ill just mount this up under the dash http://www.defensedevices.com/terminator.html
Any combo with a zebco 33 on it would be a good choice. I picked a couple up at Dicks on sale for under $30 each. http://www.dickssportingg…dex.jsp?productId=2955228 – Jason
Please send along some pictures to jrmeade77 at gmail.com Is the motor an 05? I thought that was the last year the XR-6 was manufactured. Is that the 71 lb thrust TM? Thanks. Jason
My two cents. Get a gps/finder console at the bow as well. If you like the one you have at the console then just get the same for the bow and link the two (if you can).
