I was just looking for ideas; when I am alone the boat lists a bunch to starbord when at rest. I have been told that an unbalanced boat will be harder to control as I near the step at high speeds; is this not the case?thanksjwt

Where is the best place to mount the external SI transducer? Will the unit work with two transducers? One outside and one glassed in?thanksjwt
Just went through the same exercise with a hummingird 998 and my PIV. First pulled cables via the removed vent. Then started snagging cable between the raceway and the inside part of the boat. Have a look with a light and you will see what I mean. Remove the GPS puck and it is almost a straight shot. Be sure to tape the ends of the connector so that they are rounded and there are no sharp edges to catch. If you snag, you can sometimes reverse the pull and go again. have fun; I am missing several inches of skin on both handsjwt
Just did this on my 07 PIV. As BCB says, purchase their custom bezel, a mounting bracket and a Y cable from HB. The Y cable permanently splits the SI transducer and 2D transducer (in the bilge) and routes them to the unit. When you remove the old GPS puck, leave the hole there till you are finished. It is a straighter shot to feed the cables. You will need to pull 3 cables (GPS, SI transducer, 2 D transducer). I also removed the Air vent on that side which made feeding cables easier. Tape three pieces of heavy monofiliment (string trimer line) to the old GPS connector under the dash. As you pull it back through, you have a line to use to pull the new wires. Go easy; they will tend to hand up. Pull back the opposite direction and keep going. Use one line for each cable you have to pull, I think this was easier. You can also use the old Lowrance ducer cable uner the dash to pull a line the other direction if you want to remove that ducer. Place some tape over the sharp edges of the connectors, expecially the new ones to reduce hangups and prevent damage. Worked ok for megood luckjwt
The bezel that you get from BCB is about 1/4 to 3/8 wide, should cover any gaps. If not????jw

Your charger may have a ground fault. Suggest you have a qualified electrical type check it out. Dont provide a path for electricity through your torso (bare feet on concrete), someone else may be inheriting your ride. There should be no ac connection what so ever between the batteries and the AC that powers the charger. It may be possible for the 12 VDC out of the charger to an individual battery to have AC on it as well, which means you got a bad charger. If you connect a jumper wire from the TM (-) post of the battery and the ground hole in the wall receptacle and get sparks, you will know. Get a receptacle tester and make sure your receptacle is wired correctly and that the safety ground is working. Please be careful and keep one hand in your pocket and your feet insulatedjwt
Chip:Go to Home Depot and buy the following:A receptacle tester, it will be a small plug device with 3 neon lights, two amber and one red. Plug it into the suspected receptacle and you should get 2 amber lights. As BCB said, you should have a ground fault Interrupting receptacle. to test, there is a button on the tester, push it and the plug should go dead.Next purchase a multimeter, cheap is ok. Set it on AC volts and measure from the ground on the receptacle (with the charger connected) to anywhere on the engine where there is bare metal. If you measure any volts, you have a bad charger (assuming the GFI tester passed). Dont do any of this testing in the bilge as any spark could cause an explosion.Once again caution, if you are not familiar with electrical testing, remember to keep your feet insulated and use only one hand when testing so any fault current will not pass through your body. If you are not sure if the surface is electrified, touch it with the back of your hand, your hand will automatically be pulled away. Never touch with the palm side of the hand, a shock will cause your hand to contract possibly causing you to grip the fault and not be able to let go.Good Luckjw
I have an 06 PIV with a 997c si mounted on a tall RAM mount. I used 1/4 SS Molly bolts in 4 places and filled with RTV. As far as I can tell very stout and stable. You have to have a small tool to grip the flange till the bolt gets pulled into placejwt
Does anyone know the pinout of the round connector on the truck so I can look for the reverse power?jw
If it is a standard HB installation, there is a single piece of metal across the back of the unit on two studs screwed into the back of the unit. The bar is attached with a couple of small wing nuts. Take them off, pull the unit out, disconnect the connector and your done. Be careful not to knock off the A1 panel connector.jwt
When you get to be as old as me and Sam; everybody else is a “young man”jw
I have the same problem on my trailer. can anyone recommend a good axel bender in the DFW area?thanksjwt
Fairly simple solution:Remove the trim tab and replace it with the flat kind. If it is a Merc, the trim tab does nothing anyway.direct replacementjwt
