Build the best, sell the best and give the best service. What do you get a Basscat. Well deserved and earned!!! Congrats!!
I have one on my PIII and man does it fly. I wouldnt trade it for two Optis. Fuel mileage isnt bad either if you watch how you run it. Good luck in your search for one Topwater.
Go to your local auto parts store and buy a battery hydrometer (they should cost under $10). After you have completed charging the batteries wait about 6 hours and check each cell with the hydrometer. It will tell you if you have a bad cell or not. If you do you can pull the battery out and get a high output automotive charger (30 to 40 amp). Fill the battery with water and charge it for an hour or two at the highest setting. This should burn any sulphur build up that you have on your lead plates off. Then recheck with your hydrometer in 6 hours or so. If it doesnt check out OK then you need to replace it. Most on board chargers will only put a surface charge on a deep cycle battery. It is a good practice to get an automotive charger and cook your batteries a couple of time a year, just remember to keep water in them while they are charging.

It funny how that band wagon gets loaded. Ive never seen so many black and gold shirts and hats in town. Most of them couldnt even tell you who the quarterback is!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think its going to be a great game. Im a little concerned about Mizzous secondary against OU passing game. With Pig Brown out for the year theyre a little weak. I did read that OUs stud defensive end, English is out with a rod put in his ankle. That should give Chase a little more time and also open it up for Temple. Whatever happens its going to be an exciting game and Mizzou has done something they have done in 47 years. Hey Gary are you fishing the benefit tourney on the 8th at LOZ?Last edited by mocatt on November 28th, 2007, 12:10 am, edited 3 times in total.
I own an 04 PIII. The last year they were made and I run a beast (200 Mecury 3.0) on the back of it and have NO problem getting out of the hole regardless of my load. With some adjustments in jackplate and prop tweaking (PVS plugs) you should be able to reach satisfaction with your hole shot. It is an awesome boat and has a rough water ride like NO other 19 boat on the market. I also perfer the older style consoles. I fish a lot in the winter on The Lake of the Ozarks and the older consoles give you more protection from the elements. The length of the boat also allows me to manuver in between the docks with out a lot of problems. I just dont think a guy could go wrong with a PIII or PIV. Good Luck Glenn
I run a 25 Trophy Plus and a 26 Tempest Plus. The 25 Trophy is the prop that I run the majority of the time. With just me, tackle (meduim load) port side tank full and starboard tank with about 10 gallons and no water in the livewells, the best I have ran is 74 GPS. With water in the livewells it will GPS 72. Im running a 200 Mecury EFI 3.0. I can pick up a couple of mph with the 26 Tempest but, the boat seems to like the 25 Trophy better for overall performance……………GlennLast edited by mocatt on December 17th, 2007, 9:26 pm, edited 1 time in total.
I have used JB weld to fill the holes on the older props in the past. It worked just fine and I didnt have any problems with it coming out. Just clean the hole and put a piece of masking tape over the back side of the hole, then put the JB weld in the hole and smooth it out. You could also send it to a prop shop and have them fill the holes. Im not sure about a Trophy but, the older Tempest props had vent holes drilled in them from the factory……………..Glenn
I have a 2004 PIII with a 2004 200 3.0 EFI and it is 10 tall and bullet proof as far as Im concerned. It is a little thirsty when it comes to gas mileage if you dont watch how you run it but, I can hit mid 70s GPS with me and a load and the hole shot is unbelievable. I dont have any good comparsion numbers but, I would feel safe to say that a 3.0 EFI would out perform a 3.0 Opti in all categories except for fuel mileage. On the flip side if you watch how you run a 3.0 EFI the fuel mileage isnt that bad. I wouldnt trade mine for a 200 opti. Glenn
So Phil do you feel that an Opti runs compatible with an EFI horse power and cubic displacement being equal?Last edited by mocatt on December 20th, 2007, 9:53 pm, edited 1 time in total.
Thats was kinda my opinion. I have owned 250 Pro XB and 250 Pro XS, 200 Opti and 200 EFI, and about 16 different hulls eight of which were Basscats and yes the Optis do get better fuel mileage but, I always thought the EFIs had more get up and go. Thanks Glenn
Yellowjacket5 I have always loved toys Harleys, Mopars, and fast boats, yes fuel mileage is becoming more important but, I owned a Cougar that had a 250 Pro XB on the back and since I sold that boat Ive always missed it. That boat was one of the fastest bass boats in the Ozarks running a solid 84 GPS. When I ran across this 2004 PIII with this 200 3.0 EFI on the back my eyes got big and my mouth watered and I just wrote the guy a check. I was going to order a new 2008 FTD and I just decided that this PIII would be fun for a awhile. I guess people may say Im a little stupid but, Ive worked hard for what Ive got and I buy what I want and Im not going to let a couple of miles per gallon come between me and my RUSH. Heck back in the mid 80s when I was running Skeeters I ran a Starfire 150 (1610″) boat with a 150 Mercury on the back of it and that boat would radar 68 mph and was a blast to drive.
BassCatSam1 Im not sure how far you are from St. Louis but, there will Basscats at the St. Louis boat show. Glenn
It may have been what you call “HE_ _” but, just think how screwed up things would be if Gore would have been in office during 911.Heck it may not be that bad I guess trees growing were the Towers sat and wearing BCB towels instead of caps. How about a President that doesnt put his hand over his heart during ” The Pledge of Allegiance ” or better yet doesnt believe in Jesus Christ, but he did become a Senator for the State of Illinois. All I can say is “Go Huckabee” youre the man.Last edited by mocatt on January 4th, 2008, 3:11 pm, edited 1 time in total.
