Yeah the apparatus that hooks to the eyes on the back of the boat is horrible. DPT205 is exactly right. The tube rider gets a face full of water and with three young ones, I will be pulling tubes and skis during the summer for a lot of years to come and water in the face isnt going to cut it. Thanks for the feedback.

I have a 2006 F-150 with the 4.6L engine. I make trips from North Houston to Toledo Bend which is 180 miles or so. There are some pretty good hills along the way. The truck does fine pulling my Pantera Classic. I pull it with the overdrive off (dealer recomended). When I use my wifes Expedition with the 5.4L it does excellent. I wish I could switch the engines. I think you just need to weigh the mileage of the two you are considering. You will get many more years out of the Ford based on the current mileage of the two.

I have the same issue with kids and the need to anchor from time to time. I bought the 15lb rubber coated Navy anchor from Academy. It works great and the rubber coating protects the boat should I get careless when dragging it over the side. I have the Pantera Classic and have anchored in 25-30mph winds and it held fine.

I trailered with mine well over 1000 miles at about 1 1/2 years time and it held up fine. At $175 its hard to beat. Like BCB said, you will need to maintain it properly, tie downs and sharp edges……
