BCB To be clear, politicaly correct, evenhanded, for any detractors reading this post. The day I took on a little water ,Champlain was at 4 to 6 feet and building and a 100 ferry wake was adding its confusion to the mix. the boat was doing fine. I just needed to gun it a bit more to clear the bow over a biggun. Bob

Is there any possibility of water entering the gas tank vent on the stern? Im careful about backwash but it does happen occasionally. Bob

Im going to call Scott tomorrow and order the filter removal tool. Do I have to loosen the brass allen set screw at the top of fuel resevoir near the front of filter to remove filter? I did have the filter inspected by my dealer two weeks ago and all was well but Im wondering if debris could collect by the sensor and be holding enough water to trigger alarm and maybe restrict the bleeder valve at front chamber. Anybody have a factory motor manual for a proXS 225 that they want to part with? Thanks once again Bob

I have finished draining the tanks the under seat one through the hole for the sending unit and the saddles through the gas fill. I used that trick of weighting a poly tube and could see when I was pumping and when I needed to readjust the position of the tube. It went well I used a spare battery away from the boat to eliminate fumes exploding and also only hand tools. I had no water in any of the tanks. A call to my dealer and subsequent call to his Merc rep revealed a possible source of fault. the Merc filter has a sponge core, which Im told over time can trap enough water to trigger a fault ,though visually, the filter was clean. The filters are about $44 so I should be able to dry it out and reuse. The other suggestion the rep made was to disconnect the water sensor wire temporarily and if still recieving a fault then a wire is shorted. it was a bit of a pain but I am assured there is no water and can now trace the problem. Thanks for your input and experience Bob

Mojorig, My experience applies to a 24 volt charger. I spoke with a fellow at Lester(cant recall his name right now). He gave me a detailed primer on the charger. Anyway he told me to plug the charger in to my normally discharged batteries and after an hour or so check the incoming aperage with a test meter at some point say an hour or two there will be movement in the amount of charge being applied. When the input charge is 30 amps my battery is fully charged. he also said with some experience I will be able to know how long to set the charger by where the charger needle indicator registers upon initial start up. This has proved to be true for me. Battery size, type and condition will determine optimum time for you and your rig. I will say that the charge I now get with the Lester charger is far superior to my onboard charger. Be aware that the graduated charge does produce battery gasses which are corrosive(all chargers do) so by charging with the hatch open the fumes can dissipate and not corrode metal parts in the bilge area. If your charger is different or someone contradicts my memory call Scott in parts for the contacts name at Lester and they will be happy to enlighten you. But ,if memory serves, 30 amps was the key regards, Bob Olinski

the puck in the bilge may fit right next to the existing lowrance puck unless you are going to move it as well. The Hummingbird doesnt us an A/B switch anymore .There is a “Y” connector at the dash which switches automatically as the speed increases(maybe it is a mercury switch). Remember to trim the motor up some when using the side scan as I feel the lower unit can interfere slightly just by physically blocking some of the signal Regards, Bob Olinski

Keith, can you hear a relay clicking when the alarm should be sounding? If so check the connections to the horn. Also try cycling the alarm from inactive to set a couple of times. BCBs wishes are not to discuss arming procedures on this board. If problem persists call BCB Regards Bob Olinski
