I have the same issue on my margay, its only 6 weeks old and only had it out 4 times. I emailed Pete and asked for a new tie down since they are under warranty for 2 years. Never heard back, Im guessing he sent out a new one but without confirmation I wont know till it shows up……… or it doesnt.

I just bought a Margay and it steers tight sometimes and then times loose. In the previous reply BassCat said playing with the trim can loosen the stiffness? I wasnt sure if tightness was normal at higher speeds but reading this thread caught my interest. I have a Mercury 115

Thanks guys, Im not seeing any rims on BassCats website. How do I see what they have? Im struggling to find any companies on the web that offer the negative 9 offset that I need. I dont need these till April so Im not in a huge hurry. I never thought buying rims would be so hard to find. Im looking for a black/aluminum rim. I appreciate all responses

Thanks for the responses guys!! Well, Im sold. I just purchased it. Im glad I jumped on it now cuz I didnt realize the $65 shipping is usually $130 but due to the holiday shipping its discounted. I must have read it wrong and thought it didnt qualify for the shipping discount due to its weight. Im glad I added it to my cart and saw it. If I could only find rims now with a negative 9 offset I would be golden. Thanks for the reassurance on this

I love my Margay. The only thing that I have to complain about and makes me want to get another model is not having side box rod holders. I hate the center rod storage. Is it worth spending a lot more money on another boat for? For my needs, no. But having those side rod storage boxes sure would be nice.

Ive sent a bunch over the last few weeks and have sent a few follow ups and phone calls. Pete apologized and mentioned how short handed they were and they were doing their best. I felt bad once i knew that. Try calling or sending a follow up.

Ive heard through Facebook is your best shot. Im seeing phone and email is getting no responses. I had put an order in for one. Its been on back order and every few days they bump the shipment date back another few days. This is been going on for four months. I was buying it solely as a goof. I just cancelled the order, if a company has been out of stock on almost every rod for a half of a year its not a good sign. Your complaint Ive been seeing a lot of. Rumor has it they will give u a new one but a $40 shipping charge is required. Doesnt sound like a free rod to me. Good luck

Are all seat poles the same diameter? The reason I ask is I have a 2012 Margay and I plan on installing my power pole in the next two weeks. Currently my boat is at the dealer so Im trying to get all my materials ready. I see BassCat recommends installing the pump motor on the bracket, and attach it to the seat pole with a U-bolt. Without my boat here I can only guess at the pole thickness therefore Im unsure of what U-bolt to get. Anyone know which u-bolt I need? Thank you Jay

Oh no, it definitely doesnt clear, Not even close. If I bend the handle out an inch I could make it work but I didnt want to do that if it was unnecessary. I havent seen any other solutions other than that. I did remove the winch and placed it in the the winch step then re-bolted it. There is no more adjustments as its pretty non adjustable. The winch bolts barley broke through the lock nuts now, is that adequate? I also thought as long as a few threads came out it was better. Since it didnt have a setting screw I was going to pick up longer bolts while I was there if needed. I know its the least of my problems as I cant tighten my winch now. Where do I go from here using bending the handle as a last option? Are all winch handles universal? I have the bare basic one that came with my Margay. basscatpuma3, which one do you have? Where do I go from here BassCat, what is your recommendation? Thank youJay

What if I drop the spare tire holder 2-3 inches to be safe from impact above, do I have anything to worry about from it being lower? Lower impact of any kind? 1/2″ clearance by propping up the front of the tire is too much of a gamble for me cuz if there is contact Im quit confident the damage wont be minor or cheap. I was thinking of cutting the pair of the vertical steel at the 90 angle, right where it go horizontal. Then adding a longer 90 degree bracket on those vertical pieces then bolting it back together. How much space ideally should I have between the top of the tire and keel?

Thats a good point. I have mine level on my driveway now and thats how I grab the measurements but you are right, I will hook it up to the hitch tomorrow to see how true my numbers still are. Sounds like mine is already a couple of inches lower than yours, not off to a good start here. Thanks for the input and your efforts Jay
