I am currently swapping lighter colored seats,white/light gray with red and black panels over to all black.my previous boat had all black, and it was a skeeter that had the almost exact color scheme as my p4.all black never bother me before,so I doubt it will now.BCB warned me about the cool touch vinyl having a blue hue,so I went with the old vinyl.these new seats I received are sharp, all black, with Zeus black inserts, and red BCB logo.get what you like, its going to be for you.having had skin cancer on my face, and more moles removed than I care to mention,my days of fishing in just shorts are over,so I dont see black seats being an issue.i know looks wise-these new seats are the sharpest BCB seats Ive ever seen.
sharp eyra!
Yes-these seats fold down,I could send pics if someone will post them for me. [email protected] Thanks,Matt
BCB,i will stay tuned for an addy to send a donation. Matt
BCB,I knew you would know where to send donations.Glad to help, especially when you know its going to get to its intended destination.i hope others do as well. Matt Mahle

The puma/cougar to my knowledge is the same hull.the difference is top cap layout.I was fortunate enough to fish with Kevin Short as a coangler in a northern open several years ago out of Sandusky bay.we ran to pelee in the nastiest/roughest water.probably should have cancelled that day,and day two was cancelled.most competitors made it a mile out of the bay,and turned back.we did not,and it took forever to get to pelee,And I have to tell you,his driving was legit, and we only bottomed out a couple times.the main thing I noticed about the puma was its tendency to land tail first, not flat.I owned a skeeter zx200 at the time, and every time I grit my teeth and cringed for what I thought was coming(from my own experience) we would land soft, and just keep going.we were going 20mph faster than I could have gone In my skeeter, granted it was a foot shorter than his puma-but something else I noticed was the sound of the puma when we would smack down.it was solid,it didnt sound like everything broke/cracked and it felt that way also.i have been in every brand on st.clair/Erie,and I have my favorites for sure.i now own a pantera iv,and I fish Erie/st.clair a good bit,and I go out when I probably shouldnt sometimes, but I dont hesitate-I go.i second Phil Addison on the jag.if I could swing one,Id have it.the difference in ride between a 21ftr,and a 20/19 is huge-no matter the brand.that being said, you will not be disappointed in a puma or a cougar.they are solid, fast, and a lot drier than any of the other brands.the best advice I can give you would be to buy a bass cat that has two positions for your butt seat up front, and can move the tm pedal back also.that is priceless on the Great Lakes, and I wish my p4 had the option to do that.i have to drift sometimes when I would rather be drop shotting waypoints-and I cannot.i would also get the longer shaft trolling motor, and a high five prop.i would vote jag first,puma/cougar second based on the layout you like.i would love to take the new caracal to pelee myself, and it might get the nod for number 2!sorry for the long winded response, but I love bass cats, and I love Erie/st.clair.i would gladly post a vid of my p4 on Erie in some rough stuff from a couple weeks back, but I dont know how to post vids.
Had a tourney (fall finale) last year, and it had cooled off-and there seemed to be a decent amount of fish shallow on wood.flipping fizzled, and there was a ton of big ones out on the ledges…….football jig, giant spoon was the ticket.dont know why,but this reservoir is usually awesome deep after the spawn, and that whole year the deep bite was off.it was weird catching them like it was July………but thats where they were.12-20 feet.
Dont know if it helps, but I have an 04 P4,it came with a detwiler from the factory that I thought was a 6 inch, but it is an 8.had a slide master 8 inch hanging on the back while the detwiler was sent back to factory to be updated with new pump, side plates etc.the slide master 8 inch has quite a bit more setback than a detwiler.the detwiler also has 6 bolt pattern, and I am really pleased with the detwiler.it had a bad rap deservedly so,but the new updated unit is sweet.
The new version I have is far superior to the old one,not to mention the first one I had was drilled out to fit the 6 bolt pattern and sat low on transom.the new one has side plates that are designed for a basscat transom with 6 bolts.nothing but good things to say about the new one.
It is simple once you have been there, just think of it as the streets running into the lake.they start roughly down by the mouth of the Detroit River and run all the way up the st.clair shore.an easy landmark is the 9 mile tower, which is the tallest building on that shore, and it is on the northern part of the mile roads.that whole shore is great, and as you fish it,just keep your eyes peeled for rock piles and boulders.easier to start a little deeper, and move in.tubes, jerkbait a,flukes and dropshot………you will have a bruise on your stomach from setting the hook all day!
I had to get a title for the Mercury on the back of my p4,I owned a skeeter for 7 years that was a staff boat-and never had a title for the Yamaha on it.ohio is weird, you know its all about revenue.
Im cured,thank you.
In regards to the high five,I will switch between a 4 blade 25p trophy and high five 25p depending on the wave forecast.if the waves are 2 feet or less,Ill stick with the trophy.you will lose quite a bit of top end with the high five.but if the waves are going to be big-i much prefer the high five.the five blade is fantastic for holeshot, and for keeping the nose up,and “tip-toeing” through the roughest water.i run around 70 with the trophy, and around 50 with the high five.the p4 is way more nimble with the high five, and WOT is a rarity on Erie/St.Clair.hope I could help.i might try and find out what prop Kevin Short runs on the Great Lakes,I think its a blue printed bravo? I think it is the best of both worlds-but I could be mistaking.
Just my 2cents,there are a few situations every year I would love to have two of them-the other 98% of the year,I wouldnt want them at all.i have a barn, but I used to 45 my boat in a two car garage and poles would have been a pita.I have a hydraulic detwiler also, and if someone gave me two-I still doubt I would put them on.i have also fished as a co angler in quite a few northern opens, and they are annoying as heck to fish around.if I fished for a living,or even fished opens consistently, they would be a must-but you have to have 2 if you want to hold, and the cost is ridiculous.i will also add that they are popping up around my area on just about every boat I see-and a lot of the boats wouldnt fetch what the poles and brackets cost.
