Bassdeer, It is the red one on Boat Trader at Affordable Boats. The gentleman that I spoke to said that the boat had been serviced at the local (30 miles away) Bass Cat dealer, probably a reference to Rockwall Marine. I do appreciate the responses. Having sold two cars long distance I am familiar with some of what this will entail, but I have not bought long distance. A lot of it is faith in the seller I suppose.Crank1up, I appreciate the offer and hope I avoid such an imposition. The suggestions to have Rockwall do a PPI or to hire a surveyor seem quite reasonable.I used to sell, rig, and repair these boats so I am really itching to get one in the garage to prep for a spring return to the water after being away too long. Ill update this thread as things come into focus.Again, thanks for all the reponses.Michael

Thanks for your insights, Catdude 28.Many good points Billu; certainly worth considering.I think you should start a new ad for this boat, though, as not many viewers will find it here. What are the electronics like; fishfinders, gps, etc? That could be worth knowing. Also, when you post on your own listing be sure to include a price. Is this a digital dash boat? If so, how is that working? Ill call you this evening.Michael

I figured they would be tough to find but I am hanging in.I will know in a couple of days if the boat is mine but I have every expectation that it will be on Saturday. YEAH!

Regrettably, the boat purchase did not occur. Need for a wheel is no longer an issue.

Thanks to those who have responded. I am very appreciative of the insights that you have offered and has been said, this might have prevented me from making a costly mistake. I am disappointed that I need a 3.0 200 but if thats the consensus here I will listen to the advice.

Well, I pulled the trigger on an 06 3.0 liter, 200.What a huge motor, especially after seeing the boat with no motor for a few weeks. Now I have a new post: prop suggestions and motor height 🙂

Mothers Day: I guess a lot of BC owners are taking their wives and mothers out today ? :-)The 24 Fury and motor height sound like good advice based on the little I know.Anyone else want to chime in before I buy the prop? Thanks.

Looks like a 24 Fury is a common and approved prop for this set-up.Ill be in the market as soon as I recover from the motor purchase.Thank you for sharing your experiences.Michael

Sorry for the delay in responding. I did not see the request for pictures…and now I have to find the instructions to do so.No luck on sorting the picture issue yet, but heres some more information that might help in getting these pesky parts. The newer model which has a smaller body and thus does not fit the larger holes in my deck lids, provides the necessary parts to refurbish the old latches. The problem is I am missing one entire latch so I am searching for a couple of cadavers; one to rebuild and one as a spare. These latches are square on top with a chrome pull ring. The Perko part number for the new one is 0931DP1BLK. (If I could post a pic I would but a search by that number gives the image.) The image is exactly like the latches I am seeking, but the body is too small. Thanks for looking.MichaelLast edited by grybrd on May 27th, 2014, 11:06 pm, edited 2 times in total.

I am still looking for at least one broken latch to fill a hole in the deck. I would like to keep the latches matching if I can.Thanks.Michael

There is information here somewhere (I have been unable to find the reference) about lifting one side of the boat at a time with a jack and some wood. It does not address removing the boat completely. I did do that once with a 17 foot boat by jacking the stern of the boat up using the pad and a piece of 2 x 12, loosening the bow strap, and pulling it partially off the trailer. I set it on two sections of a tree trunk cut to height and then using the bow hook, a sling, and a come-along to raise the front; pulled the trailer out from under once all the weight was off. It worked very well with no stress on anything…other then my nerves!I look forward to following this thread as my trailer needs a boat-off inspection and associated repairs.

Thank you for your response.I have sent you a message with a contact number. These are not the ones I need. The ones I seek are nearly square on top though the deck hole is round. Also, the pull ring is a chromed D-ring.Thanks for the effort. Let the search continue.MichaelLast edited by grybrd on July 4th, 2014, 3:52 pm, edited 2 times in total.
