Thanks for the advise! I do remember when going to the rear of the engine and turning the prop just a little and then the shifter did ease into gear. I never thought of backing the boat back into the water and trying to shift the engine. I will hook the flusher up tomorrow and try it when the engine is idleing. Also the note about the free spin of the prop. It does not free spin it does have some resistance. It was just an old wise tale I had heard years back. You know just thinking about it I would assume it wouldnt get that much air back there anyway. Heck I have been needing advise from friends since the corp, why stop now. LOL Thanks for your advise. Thanks for the advise OT57. You were 100% correct. The linkage worked fine while the engine was running. I guess thats what happens when I start thinking. LOL I sure thought I was fixn to spend a few bucks. Thanks again!!

The installation went well. I had to drill and add an extension on the Tach and Speed guage bracket on one side where it went against the back side of the panel. The other side I actually had to cut a piece off where it went against the back side of the dash. When drilling the holes for the fuel and amp guage the thickness of the dash is suprising. You will have to clean out the hole drill a couple of times before you will actually drill all of the way thru. To install the fule and amp guage you will have to take the wires off of the back of the guages and run the wires thru the drilled holes and re-connect the wires to the guages and complete the installation. With the installation of the fuel and amp guage I had to trim off a section off of each leg of the bracket and bend them slightly out so that I could get the bracket to slip on the all thread post to secure it with the nuts supplied.. The color code wireing harness was easy to match the wires and the wiring harness has about 4-5 wires that are labeled telling you what to connect to. The wire harness I recieved I had to use crimp pliers to connect the wires. All of the wires came with a blue crimp connector already attached to each wire. The only question I had was I had 2 pink wires on the boat harness and the upgrade wire harness only had 1 pink wire to connect to. I also had a extra orange wire that I have no clue what it went to and a brown wire with a thin blue line also have no clue where it goes to. I have not yet had time to go completely thru the boat harness at the bow or the stern and look around. I am very pleased with the upgrade. My digital unit still worked, just wanted a change. Hope this helps.

It will be money well spent. Total time to install was about 2.5 hours. Good Luck!!

I have a 1995 pantera II with a 1996 Mariner 150 EFI. With 2 persons, gear and 60% fuel I get 66 mph with a 4 blade trophy. I have no issues getting on plane or handling.

Thanks. I also want to mention that the boat has a brand new cranking battery, hot foot, stereo,2 butt seats, 1 reg seat, up graded trolling motor (Hyper Thrust), recessed foot control on trolling motor. The motor has had all of the thermostats changed out, new water pump, tune up, perko switch installed (have all reciepts). When I changed out the dash not long ago the motor had 218 hours on it. I assume it has about 235 on it about now. I do not use it much. If you need more information you can call or e-mail me:Thanks,James: 713-344-8433][email protected]

I have tried to reply to e-mails requesting more pictures but for some reason my computer will not allow me to send them. So I have added more here. You can also check out my “Images file”.

I replaced the dash in my 95 PII. It was not difficult. Depending on the additional guages package you get is how many holes you will have to drill in the dash section where your key is. The rt side replacement was easy. You may have to bend some of the braces on the back side of the guages to secure the fit. There is instructions on this site just go to the home page and look up the dash conversion and you will see it. All of the wires are color coded so there will be no mistake in connecting them. Took a couple of hours.
