I posted about trailer light voodoo a couple weeks ago on my 22 Pantera classic. My issue was burned wires in the tongue due to a short. All the lights were being crazy. Burned Wires cut and replaced, 30amp fuse blown in truck replaced.
I also bent the pins in the connector on the trailer, they weren’t making good connection to the truck plug. I still have to jiggle the plug at times to get the running lights to come on.

Ultimately, dealer said the burned wire short may be a warranty issue. He’s going to look at it when I have my boat back for 20hour service.

You might make sure your plug is making a good connection to your tow vehicle.

Did you figure out your issue?

I had the same issue, no depth/sonar/image on helm unit – Helix 10, on 2022 Pantera.

I sent the unit back to Humminbird in Alabama. I’m in Houston, TX. Had it back fixed within 5 days. Super impressed with their customer service.

I’d be glad to discuss my process further if needed, good luck!

Asking Classic owners if they like their boats is a bit like asking if I think my kids are cute, but here’s my take. For starters, I love mine.  My 2022 Classic is my first bass boat. I’m 42, been boating a long time – mostly ski boats and a Crestliner for a while. I’m going to break this down into a couple key topics, in no particular order.

Driving – I had a pretty big driving learning curve, still learning as I get more seat time, but I’ll take for granted you know how to drive a bass boat. I didn’t. One note about speed on mine – chine walk above 64MPH.  I need more seat time and I think I’m getting better, but I’m still getting into walk above 64. I have a manual jack plate so I don’t know how jacking the motor could affect it, but perhaps my motor is a little too far down. I’d like to try a thread up on the plate to see, but for now 64 has been fast enough.

Fishability – I fish with my 13 year old son. I’m 6’1”, he’s a decent sized kid, I feel like we have plenty of room. I really like how the storage is laid out. I use the center box for gear, life jackets, stool, etc. rods are in the big locker on the port side, tackle in the two forward starboard boxes. Mine came with a Helix 10 at the helm, and a Helix 7 at the bow, I personally added a Helix 10 at the bow with Mega Live. When you add electronics to a Classic, keep in mind you have to start from scratch, as the Vision line is rigged pretty bare bones from the factory. I pulled dedicated marine 10ga for all the bow stuff, added a bus to the back compartment, it turned out fine, just needed to plan and a little tight on the wire pulls being a smaller boat.

Ride – Boat is a dry ride, and about as smooth on rough water as my 23’ wake boat. Maybe that’s an exaggeration, but coming from an 18’ Crestliner, there is no comparison. Boat rides great.

Trailer Lights – here’s my big complaint. There is an exposed tail light connection somewhere on my trailer. If I launch with the headlights of the truck on, I’m going to melt wire and blow fuses. It’s happened twice, and it’s a pain. As I sit, I need to go hunt a short and fix it – again. They didn’t use heat shrinkable butt connections on mine, and I think that’s what’s causing the short. I’m pretty sure they’ll warranty it – dealer will re-wire the trailer – I just haven’t done that yet.

Hope that helps, glad to discuss it further if you have more questions.

    Good luck!

There’s also this. Short 20’ 2 car garage, not oversized in any way. About as small a 2 car garage as you’ll find. Getting it in there was important to me. Not unique to a classic necessarily, but something I was looking for.

If all you’re doing is adding a 360 transducer, you might be fine splicing it in to the power. That power wire is likely just behind the trolling motor plug plate. If you have an Ultrex with a Minn Kota heading sensor, I suspect its power is probably spliced in there too, so that’s starting to be a lot of sharing.

I just added a second Helix and Mega Live to my Classic. Not sure which boat you have, but on the vision line (Classic) they only pulled 1 pair of marine 10ga to the bow from the factory. Single Helix 7 and heading sensor were spliced into the same power. I pulled dedicated marine 10ga for everything individually to the bow from the stern. That’s 3 more ‘home runs’ from bow to stern. Kind of a pain, but I fished all the wire in about 2 hours.  I added a bus for all that in the back compartment, ran a separate 4ga power to the battery for the bus. You’ll have a lot less issue with interference/unit performance going dedicated clean power.

I also added the 5 port ethernet switch, as I didn’t have one and Mega Live is an ethernet connection. Dedicated power for it too.  360 as I understand is a transducer connection, so that wouldn’t be absolutely necessary.

Totally agree, the driving video is really good.  As I said, I don’t have experience driving other hulls, but I’m curious if any of the larger boats are easier to stabilize at high speed than the Classic.

Not a Caracal, but I think the bow setup is somewhat similar on my Classic. I recently did this, so happy to discuss further details. I mounted the rectangular base longways with the boat, more forward and more to the centerline of the boat than I expected, but I put everything on the mount and held it in place before deciding on exact base placement.  Getting the nuts on the bottom of those bolts was a challenge.

Just a thought, if you have your motor pedal forward, you’ll have more real estate for cables and graphs if you move it back. Mine is all the way back.

No sir, I have a 45” Ultrex. You may be right about having more cable. The cable cover is a must for me, especially with the ethernet cable for the autopilot and live cables I’m running. I always have to kick the cable behind the graphs when I put the motor down.

Probably worth noting my graph setup is a Helix 10 and a Helix 7, so on the small side of available graphs.

Balzout is a great option. Lots of flexibility with a minimal base footprint. Various arm length options. Super solid mount.

See the thread about the bow mount on a Caracal – a few down for a discussion of placement etc. I posted some pictures of mine. I run a Helix 10” and 7” up front on a Classic – less room than you’ve got for sure.

I added this plastic holder to my classic. Screwed to fiberglass. I think it’s miller marine products, but there’s lots like it out there on the inter web. I like being able to use the bungee to hold down a marker and my pliars.
