Thanks for posting about this. I am currently going through the process as we speak. I have been having my psa checked yearly for about 5 years now. Well this year the doctors see an increase in my psa and refer me to a Urologist. I had the DRE performed in September and everything was fine, however, the Urologist wanted to do an ultrasound biopsy since there are places on the prostate he cannot examine during the DRE. I had the biopsy perfomed on December 2nd. I got a call from the Urologist last Thursday saying that there may be some pre cancerous cells showing up in the tissues from the right side of my prostate, but there is not enough tissue sample to be certain. So I get to have another biopsy in February. The waiting is the hard part, the wife is a little worried but I tell her if it is cancer it is in a very early stage. No tumors or cancer yet, and we are not even sure if the cells are cancerous. Get the psa performed yearly, the DRE and biopsy are uncomfortable, but bearable. I have to get this taken care of, I owe it to my wife and kids to get well, plus we have our yearly spring break trip to Amistad in March. We have been to Amistad at spring break for the last 20 years, I cant let a little prostate problem break our tradition.
