Just bought a caracal from Martys marine. If interested in what your top end speed is? Also, what is your setting on the ruler for the atlas jack plate on top end? Havent picked my boat up yet. Just came out of p2.
25 fury is what came on mine. 75 mph is the best I have seen. That was full load – 2 guys (215lbs and 250lbs), tons of tackle, both tanks full, 40 degree air temp and 60 degree water temp. I have atlas jackplate, however it likes to run low and the same is with the trim. Boat is a little slow initially as opposed to my 2012 P-2. Once the boat reaches a certain speed the bow will pop up and the boat will take off like a jet – no trim needed. If you have over trimmed when this happens, it is really squirly. Have only had seat time for 2 weeks and havent made any long runs where I can really play with it. Still trying to get used to driving it, as it is a bit different from my old P-2. When I had it up to 75 seemed it had more, but I was running really curvy canals and couldnt stay on it long. Also, seems the hull is very deep. If the nose is down, the boat really feels like it wants to bite – as opposed to P-2.
3/4 on the gauge. 2 on the ruler on the plate. My boat seems to run better with a load or its the driver w/o the load. About to start fishing tournaments and will have longer runs to play with everything.
Where are these available? My boat is trimmed in black and purple.
Here is my post from another thread!Have seen 75 in mine. Pretty sure it doesnt have 78 in it while I am driving it. I have belly tanks and it will walk if you dont know how to drive it. I do know you better be on your ps and qs when doing 74/75 in this boat. Made a 50 min run last weekend with plenty of straight way to really test the boat. I guess because of the deep hull it really wants to bite with any little deceleration change on top end. Scares the crap out of you. I had lots of seat time in my P-2 before this one. I will say my caracal jumps out the water, but is sluggish getting to top end. I think the belly tanks prolong the boat from lifting out of the water. When it does, it takes off. Top end on mine stays at 74 and just under 6000 rpms.. I have atlas hyd jack plate.Hope this helps!
I have the belly tank and saddle tank in my caracal. I fished a tourney a couple weeks ago and the boat was never deeper than 12 in of water – it was very shallow. Boat maneuvered fine. I live in south la and fish and run through some very shallow water, which is why I have hydraulic jack plate. I was able to get this boat up in very shallow water as well.
I have Caracal with belly tank and 10 gal saddle , pro xs, 25 3 blade fury, atlas jack plate. I have experienced quite a difference from spring cooler temps to hot summer temps. I dont know if its the temp or wear on the prop. I live in south Louisiana and during the summer water temps very hot. We also fish waters that are harsh on props.Spring – full tourney load, full tanks, I weight 215 and my dad about 250. Great hole shot, a little sluggish getting to top end and getting the bow out of the water – as compared to my old P2. Top end 74-75. I can live with this. Summer- full tourney load as listed above. Sluggish on hole shot, really sluggish and takes a while to get the boat out of the water and to top end. Once it pops up it goes – 71-72. Have struggled in some tourneys with a lot of wave action ( once the boat squats, its hard to get it back up until you get to calm water). I find on this boat there is a very fine line between the boat being out the water and maneuverable, to it squatting. In south Louisiana theres not many straight runs, so you are constantly turning and navigating bayous/canals. I have been following the chatter on here for the Fury 4 and Bravo. I love the boat, but these summer tourneys have been a workout driving the boat. Need a prop with better mid range maneuvering and one that will get the boat out of the water faster so that it can run. Like I said – I dont dont if its the hot water temps or the wear and tear on the prop or both. I do know that when I fish alone, w/o my dad the boat handle totally different.
Moss Boss I am halving the same problem. I have caracal with belly tank, saddle tank, pro xs, 25 fury, atlas jack plate. When you add my dad (250lbs) and his gear it gets very sluggish to get to top end. Boat gets out the water great then takes forever to get it lifted and running. This is only when the water gets hot. Have been looking for a solution for awhile. I fish quie quite a few evening tourneys with shot gun blast. If you get caught up in all the boat waves, boat will just squat with nose down and plow. Wont lift until I get to clean water.
I have a guy nearby that has a 24 -4 blade. Waiting for him to let me try it. Several guys around my area running the fury 4 on different models.
