Thanks for the input. I was researching the subject on this board and see that the side mount is very popular with manual plates. I think that I will go that way with the 9 inch set back…much easier to install. When I sold my last boat, the buyer didnt want the Talon so I kept it. I wouldnt fish without a shallow water anchor now and the Talon has served my needs very well.

Dont rub it in!! 25 here today with about a foot of snow on the ground. Ice fishing is supposed to be good now though…mainly crappies. Funny you should mention it, dad and I are giving the OI serious consideration. Fished lake of the ozarks a couple days when I came down to pick up the boat and really enjoyed it. Id love to see all those cats too!!

Those universal brackets look sweet. Thats what Im gonna use to mount my talon to my Puma.

I saw that post last week, looks pretty slick. Im just wondering what to do about the hole that would be left in the dash. I suppose you could just use some sort of face plate like the one shown to cover it?

I agree with VTBassCat. I run interstate 29s and have had good luck with them and change them out every 3 seasons.

The last interstates that I bought were the Pro. I never had my boat long enough to tell the difference, but I fished all day during a tournament in white caps with a fortrex 101 and had juice to spare.

Im running a 26P Bravo on a Puma with 250 Vrod. I only ran the boat a couple times last year, but it seems to handle good and sure isnt sluggish out of the hole.

I just ordered the new adjustable bracket for a puma. I have a manual plate though so went with the side mounted one.
