Had same thing happen on my brothers boat last year. Probably ran without water and overheated. It swelled up and melted the outside housing. Had a real hard time getting it out of housing. When I finally did the new cartridge wouldnt fit in the old housing. Had to replace the whole unit. Sounds exactly what I went through.

Just remove the cartridge out of the housing and hold it in your hand and turn it on. If it doesnt spin like that. Make sure you have 12 volts to it. If you have voltage then it is bad. If it does work make sure there isnt something? in the housing preventing it from turning.

Thanks for all the input. This is a great site to share knowledge and information. Will be seeing the dealer soon so I dont have any problems. Probably would happen in a tournament. So I have been warned.

My 2015 Cougar does not fill on the lake when set to Empty. On Auto on the lake it will partially fill up. When pulled out of water it will drain on Empty though. Maybe your system is different.

Took 20#s to win 6-14-17. Four fish for 3.5 hours. Quite impressive.

Sure wish it would happen. It is a great fishing lake without a doubt. Martys Marine is still is hard to beat for service. I would definitely buy another boat there. Maybe they will step up again.

After being an electrician for over forty years, I was always told that you dont want to load a breaker over eighty per cent. I think the National Electric Code even says that. The more current, the more heat which causes failure prematurely. I would just not run the trolling motor at 100 per cent unless absolutely necessary.

Shop vac would definitely be a disaster. BOOM, FIRE, and ruin your day and boat and life possibly.

Make sure you have 12 volts at pump. Do not install in pump housing. Instead hold in hand and turn on. Make sure it turns like that first. I would say if breaker trips like that it is a bad breaker. Momentarily just put the 2 wires on the pump across the battery to make sure it even turns before you start.
