I wish I could be there, but I’ll be busy training to throw lead in the Sandbox again….sorry I’ll miss it

I was there and talked to him for a bit right as we put our boats in the water. It was a pleasure talking to him!
I was a volunteer boater. I fished last year too.Towed my 35th Anniversary PII (Orange and Silver) up from Jacksonville, FL to be a part of the tournament.I didnt get paired with a wounded vet this time as a bunch of guys were no shows. But hey, I tried right?Last year I got paired with a great guy who I still keep in contact with.
Wow! Just Wow….would have to do something with my PII, but this would be my dream boat (with a second console added…LOL)
I am in serious discussions about moving from my P2 to a Caracal.I already had Sherm price one out for me, I just need to sell mine first, should I decide to jump. One big thing is that I have not seen one in person yet. Im hoping Bass Cat brings one to the Classic. BCB are you bringing one? If not I may have to travel to a show soon…LOL
Ill be there. Bill, if you have trouble finding something, lemme know
Ok Im starting to wonder a little bit.Im considering the Caracal, but Im wondering how you guys feel about the boat after some time in seat.I finally got to see one this weekend, and it was awesome…I was just wondering “real world” how it was working out for you guys that have one already!
Thats what I like to hear. Im really digging the wide front deck for my seven year old who loves to go with me now. Its a little tight on the deck of my P2 with him.Im down between the Caracal, Eyra and Cougar FTD….with that big deck kind of pushing the Caracal up front. Was wondering how it handled on the trolling motor. Will definitely be getting a Hydraulic Jackplate.

Ive run big waves but it wasnt fun, wasnt easy, and wasnt dry! If you dont mind sharing, how did you work through the rough stuff. Im sure Im not the only one that could use some help with that. I know the 20 foot boats do fine but our 19s require a little more skill to negotiate the big stuff. When I have had to do it, its been riding up and down the waves at 20-30mph at most. But I cant imagine doing that for a 60 mile round trip. Thanks in advance.BrianBrian…Patience…No seriously its not that easy. I have 18 years (since 1997) seat time in a P 2 in waters ranging from Santee Cooper to Okeechobee to the Potomac, so Ive been in some rough water (Im hoping to move to a Cougar FTD next year), so seat time has been important for me.One of the things I do is try to trim it up some and use the V in the hull to cut through the waves a little bit ….Its not really skipping across the top but its not really plowing through them either. Honestly Im probably better at showing it than telling it, but the key is to find a sweet spot and try to stay there. Though you are bound to take a hard hit sooner or later as no two waves are the same. I try to use the hull design to my advantage and cut across the top of the waves—keeping in mind that you will catch one just spaced out enough to rattle a filling or two. If you find yourself “digging” (and/or getting wet) you probably need to pull the nose up some.I stayed bone try about 3.5 trim or so, and it was rough, dont get me wrong, but it was dry. It was a 45 minute run in the morning running into the wind…the wind laid down so the run back was not nearly as rough, though still choppy, and it took me 21 minutes

In 4 footers, and bigger, whats more important is agility and the P-2 is much more agile than a Puma. When youre tacking from wave to wave Ill take the nimbleness of a P-2 over the extra foot and a half of a Puma any day.Very true. My boat is pretty much point and click
So it fishes Ok then Mo?Ive watched, and drooled over (LOL) your video….No issues flipping tight cover then?
Im glad this topic has come up.I am on my third Bass Cat, and getting ready to make a new Caracal my fourth.I crawled all through the Caracal at the Classic and thought, “man what a boat”. Bass Cat really, in my opinion, rewrote the play book with that boat in regards to innovation and design. As someone already pointed out, its designed very well. I really like that front deck, and its perfect for taking my son fishing. It was really a curve ball for me because I had planned to naturally progress to a Cougar FTD once my son had decided he likes to go too and has more than just a passing interest. (The kid LOVES to go fishing, who am I to dissuade him from that ) Interestingly enough, the days I was at the Classic it appeared to me that the Caracal drew more of a crowd than the Cougar FTD they had there. The only other boat at the Bass Cat display drawing more attention was the vertical Jaguar display—of course, it was kinda hard NOT to pay attention to that thing standing on end like that.
Youre good man..no worries…Good Luck!
Mine is for sale in Jacksonville.

This one really deserves a statement. This boat will be maintained better than about 99.9% of boats you will look at for sale. Sheff is extremely ______ about his mechanical dohickies and stuff and he will have this in pristine condition, of course less user marks as he does use one. BCBI totally agree…this is essentially a new boat.
