Judd,
Excellent idea! I also had the same problem. I’m calling Scotty today to order a set. I have my utility knife ready with some fresh, sharp blades.
Turbo,
I had that SS protective piece on a previous boat and it chewed up the roller pretty bad. I think that if you mount the softer black roller you won’t have the chipping issues. I ordered my black roller today.

What is located in the space between the triangular livewells that prevents them from having a square or rectangular shape?
John, The rod storage on the left is something that just evolved. “In the beginning…” most bass boats were single console and the rods were always stored on the left to clear the console. This isnt a problem any more with most bass boats but it probably was the reason the left side location became standard.
Next Wednesday Im going to Gonzales as I was invited to a special opening of the new Cabelas before it opens to the public on Friday. I will stop by the new dealership while Im in Gonzales and say hello. I took the day off from work so I might as well make the best of it.

Glynn, Thanks for the info. I felt like you were writing about my experience. I fished a club tournament 2 weeks ago at Chicot and my partner crushed dozens of those cypress balls on my rear deck. I tried my usual Resolve carpet cleaner but it didnt do too thorough a job. Thanks again. Rick
The key to loading the Classic is backing the trailer until the outer/smaller bunk boards are sticking 2 feet out of the water. Because all ramps have different angles you cant tell another boater how much of the fender should be sticking out of the water because his ramp may be steeper or more shallow than anothers. This means that you have to lower your tailgate to see how much the smaller bunk is protruding out the water. If you have a suburban or cover on your P/U bed then you need to get out and look or have the boater or someone else guide you. I got this tip several years ago from this board and it has worked for me every time. I must mention that this is for the Classic. I cant comment on any other models.
I checked the in-line fuses and theyre OK. I cleaned all the terminals and wire connections with a new brass brush and put anti-oxidation grease on them. I had Auto Zone check both batteries and theyre OK and fully charged. In the past the green light always remained lit w/o flashing when the batteries were charged. Yesterday, after fishing, I plugged the charger in and seem to remember that both lights came on which would have indicated that they were charging. Could the charger have conked out after having charged the batteries? or could the LED be malfunctioning. Ill try again next Saturday after our club tournament and see if I need a new charger. Thanks BCB and George for the quick replies.
Down here in Louisiana we are having fishing and water rights problems. Some property owners have put cables up across waterways on their property. For this reason alone I always leave my front seat and pole in place. Never had a visibility problem. But I might if my head gets lobbed off. : (
The same thing happened to me last year. After I came down from a big wake the TM slammed down on the carrier and a piece of the magnet that surrounds the armature broke off and jammed between the magnet and the armature. My TM guy took it out. Luckily, the missing piece wasnt that big to make a difference in the performance so I didnt have to go for a new lower unit. I now have a strap around my shaft and a bounce buster to prevent the lower unit from bouncing in the carrier.
Thanks for all your replies. I should have mentioned I have the latest MG Digital Tour / 82 lb. w/ transducer and it does have the springs in the carrier. I tend to run it on high when Im shooting across the water and its the high speed impacts that do me in. I also get caught a lot in those cypress knees when Im near the bank. This last episode was a little different. The TM got wedged between the weight of the boat while it was inside the hollow stump. I couldnt rock it free and it was at such an angle I couldnt unscrew the front knob to free the shaft from the carrier. It bent when I put the boat in reverse. Im going to wait until Tuesday when my TM guy comes back from HIS 3 days of fishing (LOL) and speak to him. He works on both brands and always had good things to say about both brands but he once suggested for my next TM I try MK at the rate I bend shafts. Im hoping he can sell or take my MG on a trade-in as he sells a lot of used TMs. Can you spell “stimulous check”?
Mike, Thats the first time Ive ever heard of the SkegGard ever effecting performance. I had one on my boat for 6 months before I had the chance to have a new skeg welded on and I never knew it was on the boat. I was going to ask you if the motor height was changed when the work was done but you said your original performance returned when you removed it. Strange. Two other members in our club had them and there was never a problem.
It looks like Gustav is headed right for my neighborhood. I cant do anything about all the trees and limbs around my house but I got the BassCat and truck under the carport. I managed to get some final fishing in yesterday before I started preparations. Im not evacuating. I might get activated in the aftermath like I was after Katrina. All Louisiana State Law Enforcement Officers living North of I-10 have already been activated. All us living below I-10 will be allowed to take care of our immediate needs at home and then we will be called in. The last time we had a hurricane as bad as this one is projected – Hurricane Andrew in 92 – it destroyed the fishing in the Atchafalaya Basin and surrounding waters for years to come. At this point all I can do is hope and pray. Rick from Lafayette
