If you contact Aurora canvas they can make a 2 peice cover like the one I have on my 2006 puma. The material you need is acrylic, if you go with a water proof cover it will draw moisture the acrylic is a water resistent material and is breathable. The Aurora cover is designed for towing your boat and is built to the specs of your boat. They also make a dust cover just for keeping the dew or dust of your boat, it is made of a light weight material and is definetly not designed to travel. I have not used Deans cover but after the commits about being rough on the gel coat I think I will stay with the Aurora cover.

Here is the real problem you are going to have. Where the cover touches windshield, seat , dock cleat, hand rails or any sharp object the drive is probably going to destroy the cover. The other possibility is the cover and straps being in the wrong place could possibly damage your new boat. I know the forecast for rain sucks cause none of us wants to get our boat wet or all that road grime on it. But a trip to the car wash or letting it dry out for a couple of days is better than a scratch from a strap or cover that wont fit your new boat. I worked at Aurora canvas for 10 years love their covers but that is the risk you take by putting the wrong cover on. If you have any more Questions I will try to help if you need it.

Are you sure there is enough differance that you will have to get a new cover. You may beable to call aurora canvas and they can make that cover fit for less money than a new one.

The deans covers are made of aqualon which is a water proof cover except where the stitches puncture the material. If you order from aurora canvas you can choose from aqualon or acrylic the acrylic cover is water resistant instead of water proof. This allows you to place your cover on the boat when it is wet, keeping the boat from molding since the acrylic is breathable.

If you get a hold of the guys at Aurora Canvas they can fix you up. They will have a pattern for your boat or they should.. As far as towing with the cover on you will have no problems if you follow the instructions on instalation. Aurora Canvas builds their covers to be used primarily for towing and storage. I do not have personel experience with Deans covers so I can not give you advice on theirs. But after working at Aurora Canvas for 9 years, and being the owner of one of their covers I know first hand of very few problems. If there is a problem They will stand behind it and make it right just give them a call. (417) 883-9811

Sorry Ellwood I spent 4 years working on the buffs. Everybody is close to their fellow workers in that line of work. I hope the prayers are helping and we will keep them up untill they are no longer needed.

jw: I have a 2006 pro xs 225 and the lower unit exploded last year and threw a gear out the side of the case. My dealer told me I hit something, but there was no marks on the prop or front side of the lower unit and nothing on the stag. The only thing the stag was bent side ways. The dealer said that was the proof right their. I told them I was in sixty foot of water in the middle of the channel and there was no trees even close. So the dealer finnaly sent the unit to mercury after a few un-freindly words. After two weeks they came back and said Mercury was going to replace it under customer appreciation. If you would like send me a email at bbrake407@hotmail.com and I can send you some pictures. They might help your case. Good luck Bill

Jw my skeg was bent by just looking down there at it, but after a little closer inspection it was determined that when the gear came out the side it caused the metal to relax. so this gave the skeg the apperince of being bent. Hey give me a call their is some other information but would be bettrer between us (417)988-3430
