btgibson, we may still be able to talk but I would like to see if anyone closer has an interest before dealing with the effort and cost of shipping. And I fogot to mention that these are located in southwest Missouri. But that was probably evident from the area code on the phone.
I have talked with a couple of folks and wanted to mention what I would be willing to consider in a trade. I am willing to look at an exchange of five modular or rocca wheels plus $400 for my five 20″ wheels & tires. And based on a response I received from BCB these will work without any issue on 2006 and newer trailer models. You can of course call them directly to verify this. FYI
Robert, I sent you a PM. The wheels are still available. You can use the number I listed on the PM or the one shown on the original post to call me and we can figure how we can make the exchange.
Robert, good talking with you. Ill see you Saturday to exchange wheels.
Robert, I hope you and enjoying the look of the tires and wheels on your Cougar. Also, were the wheels in the condition that I had said they would be? I left you a quick voice mail on your cell, but dont firget they are directional tires and to put them on the correct sides of the trailer.
I agree with basscathash on the wiring scheme. Another quick way to determine what voltage is at the plug for the trolling motor is the use of a multi-meter. Most these days are automatic but you will have to set it to DC voltage. Anyway, touch the leads to the terminals inside the female plug and you should read 36+ (or 36- if you have the polarity backwards). Either way it will let you know quickly if you have the proper voltage coming from the batteries. It sounds like you currently have them linked in parallel and you need them in series to generate 36 volts.Good Luck
Looks like Ill be fishing with a motor guide for several years to come. Thanks for looking but it is no longer for sale.
I see they are called “Pro Angler Rain Suits” but the description does not indicate the outer material. I would assume based on the $300 price that they are Gortex but if any of you have already asked that question you can pass it along. Thanks
I forgot, if you want to know what year the boat is get the serial number off the transom of the boat. I believe the last two digits will indicate the year, but I am sure BCB can correct me if I remembered incorrectly.
Mine is a 35th Anniversary Edition ( http://www.basscat.com/35th.html ) and I think that means the 102C at the bow was installed at the factory. At least when I spoke with a person at the factory he indicated the bow depth finder transducer was mounted somewhere between the ice chest and gas tank which would have had to occured in the production process, I think. There is no transducer on the trolling motor and I saw the wiring for it going down the center of the boat when I had the wiring cover and cup holder out. Also, did you mean that no temp sensor is installed? I know the 332C at the console has a temp sensor on the transom but I was just curious if the temp sensor and transducer that Lowrance referred to in their manual was used when it was installed to the hull. I know the readings wouldnt be as accurate as the one on the transom but it would still give some reference since the hull is under water.
I dont fish tournaments but I do enjoy fishing at Bull Shoals. I am hoping to get down to the Lead Hill area on Monday. Im sure yall launched somewhere near the dam but I was wondering what water temps were looking like. I know when I was on the lake a couple weeks back they were still 55-56. Im guessing they are probably in the upper 40s now. Thanks.
Gchagler, you mentioned getting close to the rpm limits but didnt actually post what each prop topped out at. Please list that with the two 26s you ran. Im running a 07 PII – 200hp Optimax (not a Pro XS) without the saddle tank and have been trying to find better top end performance. Im currently running the stock 25 pitch Trophy and really like the handling but I know I am losing some speed with the 4 blades. And I am really looking for a prop that will allow the front end of the boat to rise up a little more. I seem to run heavy in the water and never really get on the pad (always seeing spray from the rear sides of the boat). Maybe that is the way a PII runs but I keep hpoing to find an answer to get it a little higher on the water. I also seem to have a great deal of rooster tail and never trim more than 2 on the trim indicator. Thanks for any help you can send my way.
You mentioned wanting to get one in AR because there is no sales tax for used boats. You are correct but there are two other things you should know. 1) If you live in AR it does not matter where you get the boat from. You will only pay taxes in AR where the boat is registered. 2) You will need a seperate bill of sale on the trailer. That is what AR uses to decided whether or not there will be any sales tax. Make sure whoever you buy from values the trailer less than $2500 and you are clear. My last comments may sound a little sarcastic BUT if you want a lower note you could 1) put more down and finance less or 2) buy a boat that cost less . I will apologize in advance but I used to work in the banking world and would see lots of folks letting their “wants” overpower their financial abilities. The more conservative views that banks are finally adopting are in direct relation to letting folks borrow more than they should have in recent years. (like the current home loan debacle) Having a nice shiny rig outside your home shouldnt be top priority if it is more than you can comfortably afford. Good luck!
Travis, I didnt mean to sound like Dave Ramsey but I know my wife and I probably do handle our personal finances a lot different from most folks. Again, I apologize if I sounded rude, that was not my intent. When I did work in the lending world I saw too many folks putting themselves in a bind because they did not want to wait until they had saved either enough to pay it in full or at least a sizeable down payment. And I do agree with you 100%, most people put down the minimum amount and simply pay notes & interest until it is paid. We consider interest to be nothing more than throwing money into a fire and do everything we can to avoid doing that. One last thought I will offer is a finanical tool my wife and I like to use for most of our vehicle/boat purchases. We have an Equity Asset Line set up through our bank that offers both a low rate (currently below 5%) and the ability to pay whatever amount in principal you wish to each month (interest is billed monthly). Obviously, you need to have adequate equity in your home to allow for a large enough loan amount, but it makes dealing with car dealers or anyone very easy since you are allready approved and have checks in hand when you do settle on a price. It works just like a credit card but offers the ability to add any interest paid as a federal deduction if you itemize your tax return. Also, most banks open these without any fees to the customer, at least Regions does.
I would recommend calling Mercury since Trophy props are made by them. I know I have called Power Tech directly with questions about props they made, and they can run a serial number and tell you when it was made, what pitch, etc. and I am sure Mercury can do the same thing. Other folks may know what the numbers mean as well but I would be certain that Mercury could (and their probably not too busy this time of year). Good Luck.
