If your cap just wont tighten all the way and acts like it has stripped threads ,this is normal. This is because this cap vents through gaps in the threads in the cap
It was recommended to me by a BCB rep at A local show not to run an Optima as your cranking/starting battery,I believe it had to do with voltage levels necessary for the Mercury computer and fuel system, also the Optima requires a different charge rate other than what your Merc alternator puts out.I would speak directly to BassCat or Mercury before I did anything.
We have Verizon/Fios up here in Northern Va. which has WFN, Verses,The Sportsman channel, and the Outdoor Channel .There is always a good fishing show to watch , but it sure does get “Cabin Fever” kicked up a notch.
I know all about that “cabin fever” , I just spent 2 hours detailing my batteries, pumps, fuel tanks and bilge this morning.Chompin at the bit to get back on the water , hope to see you out there.
Dinkslayer, sure will give you a shout out there.I dont have a whole lot of experience north of the Spoils but I plan to do some prospecting up there.I have also heard that you need a DC license to fish above the Spoils and a certificate from a boater safety course,do you know if this is true?
Thanks for all the info,I do want to get more familiar with DC so I can have a smallmouth backup plan.
thanks, Ill have to give Lowrance/Linda a call ,hopefully they will cover the puck.
Thanks for all the advise, the support and help that comes along with being a Basscat family member is FANTASTIC.
I would like to see another head to head test with tournament loads except add a 20 to 25 mph wind with an opposing tide like we saw yesterday on the Potomac.I run a 02 Jag w/ a Merc 250xb , faster than most ,slower than some but NOBODY passes me when things get snotty.
misr12, I run a trophy 27 4 blade all the time but I may go with a Fury in the future , I have heard that they get a better holeshot and my Jaguar digs one hell of a hole with a tourney load
have you tried an aardvark?,………sorry ,I couldnt resist
all boat and no brains….
Just an idea… I currently have the same setup on my Jaguar (3 trollers hooked up to a 3 bank charger and an independent starter battery).I made a small set of jumper cables out of heavy guage wire and some clips / jump my #1 battery to my starter battery whenever I plug her in.Has always worked for me and when this charger craps out I will get a 4 bank charger.
Did you hit a submerged object and do you have insurance ?
I had a similar problem with my 02 merc 250xb and it turned out to be deteriorated fuel lines. I would run like a raped ape for a couple of minutes then I would lose about 400 rpms and couldnt gain them back no matter what I tried. My mechanic said that ethanol based fuels deteriorated the inner fuel line and would “flap over”and restrict fuel flow.Approximate $275 repair if my memory is right.
