This is a 24V Motor and only one Cable coming to the Front is being used the Red.. I have disconnected the White cable at the main boat Battery. I have found a breaker (red cable) coming off the Rear Battery pos post of the two Batteries on the left side (passenger side) ( 24V 40A) … There is a breaker between the batteries that is Shrink Tubed over and part of the Jumper between batteries does this also have to be replaced. If I am going to replace I would want to do all I need to.. is 50A the right choice.
Scott I am cool and agree with everything you just stated…………………… and I liked your comment on the worst in sports or this sport and Ill say no more about it.
All great advice and the web site was cool to read written well. Seat time is the real answer but it not easy to get seat time in rough water.. You could come up here to Michigan and fish Erie.. It will only take you about 3 week then lol.. The water is always rough here. lol Stay safe and always look for the rouge wave. Going into the wind is best but not if you dont see the rouge it helps lift the bow then. I was running in the State Fish Off on St. Clair winds 30 plus into the wind and hit one this year didnt see it until the last few seconds didnt spear it but caught it on an angle going a bit too fast stood my 1998 PII straight in the air opened the livewell doors and emptied most of the water out . WOW .. We also have what we call Tuna boats here(big Cruiser that push lot of water and never seem to get on plain) when running the channels or the river you have to deal with them close they will put off 4 to 5 ft wakes not to mention the Freighters but they are not as bad as the Tuna boats seem like you have to cross about Five Rollers of 4 to 5 foot best way I found is to of course be going slow run up in on a slight angle power up just as you get to the top and kick the back end of boat into the swell then soon as it gently come down sitting in the low area same angle as the wake on either side a quick turn the opposite direction to put the bow back on angle and run up again same process several times till you are through them. trim down and off again. its actually pretty soft ride but a lot of quick turning of the wheel.
I can do that, I have 2 switches now, so I think I will look at both and keep one ready and handy for future. No one else in my club has had this problem and we run a lot of merc. Twice for me I guess
surprising no one has ever had a problem with the motor triming up while driving down the road and the transom saver coming off the roller would be an issue when you went to stop. ouch..
All and all this is making me feel better a switch is an easy fix and a reasonable one. Thanks OldTimer what was I thinking I know the two small ones are there to trim up.. I guess I wasnt thinking lol.. that the boat going forward was pulling the motor up … Ok Motor weight, motor forward power thrust. vs water pushing against the lower end as the boat goes forward.. Yea I needed your wake up call to say like DUH… DUDE.. It electrical whether you like it or not. lol lol Thanks all I will finded it.
I also switched a year ago when they first appeared pretty simple task and I think they are the way to go. Real bright in the early mornings.
My boat is Red Black cap and sides with a Red Malibu Bolt and an Black hull…. Red Black may be a confussing name for the color and it is close to Candy Apple but I agree its Neat.. I get so many compliments from other boat guys about the color of my boat the black in the Red just makes it jump in the sunlight and makes the flake look bigger and more pronounced Owner pictures PII Dan J. ONeil for a look
PittBull Jay I see your are in Pontaic Mich. I have a spare working BP101 that I keep for our club guys as a tool, I do not want to sell it or really lend it out but if you are close you might be able to swing by and plug it in, it might help you out to find out if it your dash or not. I live in Canton, Michigan about an hour maybe less.
I have your number, issue this week is a blur with Thanksgiving coming and I leave Friday to go Deer Hunting in PA it opens Monday the 26th will be back Dec 1st but who know what the weather will be like by then.
Interesting comment on the specific gravity readings between different Battery manufactuers, I think I would be tempted to test that theroy by charging one of the batteries with a different charger to see it if made a difference to the battery, Then if not I wouldnt worry about the charger.
Mine was set up with a in line fuse holder, and this issue drove me crazy sometime it wouldnt even turn back on then two minutes later hit the button and on it would come. The spring in the fuse holder was not applying enough pressure against the fuse and when bouncing around would shut the unit down next the pressure was light enough that sometime when you went to turn it on the amps were to high for the connection and it wouldnt come on this has happened twice in 4 yrs with two different units, I finally just hardwired the thing and through the fuse holder away. What a pain to be in a Tourney and have the thing not come on for several minutes once you stop, push the button, no, try again in a minute or so and on an on.
I got a lead on a NEW one but it not cheap, I am strongly thinking about it though. Now its down to that>> I want it, do I really need it, but I want it thing lol lol , Of course eventually I would have to sell my 99 2.5l 200 EFI with 250hrs on it and thats some money back lol lol lol. I love my 98 PII and its like new still more like spotless, I never leave the launch without it getting wiped down and pledged no matter how tired I am and not that it runs bad but as Tim Allen would say MORE POWER lol lol
I believe the BP100 was on boats 1995 and older so what you have is something that fits an older boat Price and Demand for this may be low due to the age of the boat. I can tell you from this site I purchased a spare BP101 in perfect working condition for $200.00 to have in support of our club here in case we need to diagnose or replace if one was out for repair. So far neither have happen except for my BP101 backlight has stopped working(more than likely the small 50V transformer built into the dash) but it only an issue early spring and late fall when lauching and getting ready to run in a Tourny so I havent done anything about it yet but it has been bothering me that I cant say everything on my boat works perfect. lol
Thanks from the pictures I been looking at on the owners board Puma s I would of guessed they were the MED. ones. Its good to ask…
