I used marine board. Its available at West Marine. I mounted two batteries on each side and made a bridge for the oil tank. I put down some adhesive and screwed it in place. Just be creative and remember measure, measure and measure before for cut or drill. It worked out real well for me.Sheff

The plastic board is called marine board. I think Star Board is a brand name for it. Shef

When are you coming. The fish are moving up and back out right now due to all the fronts this time of year. DO NOT bring mono. 20lb floro or at the smallest 50lb braid. We even throw spinnerbaits on 20-25 lb line. Start working out now as these fish will break your wrist. When are you coming? I live in Corpus and will be going down prefishing for upcoming tournaments. Give me a shout and Ill help you as much as possible. CONGRATS on the new Puma, I absolutely love mine. I put the 27th coat of wax on it a few weeks ago and Ive only had it a year and a half. Dave 361-438-3575

It will take about that long. The rub rail is riveted on. Not a hard job, really easy if you have the magic tool. I replaced several rivets on mine that were loose. I drill off the head with an aproiate bit and installed new rivets with silicone on them using a pnemuatic squeezer. The squeezer makes it easy. Shef

Post this question on http://www.bassboatcentral.com in the Mercury forum. They answer you right away. Most of the folks here are busy with the OI, (I think) Sheff

More than likely the armnature in the TM has a dead spot. If/when it does it spin the TM prop just a hair and if it works then that is the problem. Minn Kota has updated armatures to repair this defect. Ive had mine replaced twice. The last time it got the newer armature and hasnt had a problem in several months. What year is the TM? It has a 3yr warranty and this will be covered. I do not think the Lowrance turning off on start up is connected to this issue. Several of us have had this issue and Bass Cat has been looking into it I think. I replaced my starting battery the other day and have not had a problem in the last two outings. Hope this helps

Bassnrod, The new color graphs draw alot of power. Dim your screen and you should see the voltage come up. What does it read after dimmed. Could be a current (amp) problem instead of voltage. Check all connections, even make sure the batt terminals are clean. Hope this helps Sheff

Did your jackplate move down??? If hydraulic did the switch get bumped and if manual is it loose. Could be the loss of RPMs as well. Just a couple of ideas. Found this to be the problem on a buddies TR21. The manual plate had losened and moved down almost 3/4″. Hope this helps Sheff

You can also get laminating sheets. They are rather thick clear plastic with adhesive on them. Keeps from having a black square in the slash well. They will wear and are not a permanent fix but can be easily swapped out and are much more aesthetically pleasing. If you are near an airport, get some leading edge tape. Its clear and a little thicker and will last longer.

My understanding is 100 ftlb if using the plastic flo torque hub. With the other hubs 55 ftlb.

You could possibly have a crack somewhere. Check cartridge housings, and hoses, fittings on the suction side. If there is a leak it will be abear to prime and the pulsating could be the intermittent sucking of air. Hope this helps! Sheff

If it was plaining out before and now the outside temps are much higher maybe the pvs. What prop? More than likely its a coil. They are known for causing this same problem. Could be a plug also with that number of hours. Are you using ethanol fuel, and if so has the boat set for a long period with out marine stabil or one of the other fuel preservatives? Look at the bright side its under warranty. Dont get discouraged all of the “big three” motors have their problems these days. Sheff

Thanks for the fuel description, but from the sound of it there is only one rear tank on the Puma now for a total of 43 gallons. Just wondering because, I have needed all my fuel in my 05 in tournaments before and I currently have either 52 or 53 gallon capacity (Kentucky Lake and Amistad). Maybe a little too much running and gunning on my part. The less draft of the Puma does interest me now that Im in Florida. What are the other creature comforts that make them different? Thanks Sheff

Storm was owned by the Kornmiers before the current owners and I think the Lakes before that (not sure on the last one). I had an 86 206 kevlar hull with a 2.5l Merc 175. The quality of construction was superior. It handled rough water extremely well. It took alot of trial and error to learn to use the trim tabs properly. Once you mastered this it was a dream in the really rough stuff. The other major benefit was shallow water starts. With the tabs down and the plate up it would get on plane in about 2.5 feet of water, which especially useful on The Big O. The speed was also there. I added reeds, tuner, Bobs low water pickup and solid mounts to the 175. The best it ever ran was 75.9 with a light load and a 28 chopper prop. It took about 15 seconds of feathering the throttle to get it up on plane. I normally ran a 25 Trophy which was like a rocket out the hole and 67-68 tournament loaded. Ill try to find a pic and post it later. The pic I have is from 2006 when I sold it. Sheff
