Down; because the boat will tract straight, unless in shallow water for the above stated reasons. If you pull the motor up the wind will turn the back end of the boat around on you and make it hard to control.

With gas in the main tank you have more weight forward that can put more boat in the warter (slower) . With more gas in the saddle tank the weight is in the aft side of the boat. My puma feels different (better) using mainly the saddle tanks. I dont know what boat fuel weighs, but Aircraft fuel weighs 6.71 lbs per gallon so moving fuel around can change how it handles, allot. 6.71 X 32= 214.72lbs to move around. I have not ran any tank dry but I do run it down pretty good every once in a while. Gas can and will go bad, so I want to use all my tanks a little to keep it from vasnishing over. My fuel low % is set up the sme way. When I get low I go back and look at the tank so in a tournament I an relate the percentage on the gauge to run time left. When you do this ensure there is extra fuel in the main tank to get back to the ramp. I also look at my RPMs to see how much they effect my fuel comsumption. Good luck Russ.

I have the regular Puma the only reason I went with it instead of the Cougar FTD was the rear area. The Puma has a much larger area were the fuel tanks are than to other, I store 2 extra gallons of oil in there with ease. I have herd of guys storing there spare prop there as well. Also the larger storage areas is better for a fishing partner and his or in my case her gear. If you fish by yourself then I would go with the FTD the boat rides better with the weight of fuel further back! I run with 20 Gallons of gas most of the time because of this, so I hardly use the larger tank.

I cant account for the E-tec but my Puma 250 Mercury with tournament load 78.7 two days ago. Fury 26 P prop @ 5950 RPMs. Cant wait for winter temps to get here! You have many of the same questions I had. It is hard to beat the awards the Puma and Mercury combo has aquired 7 years of J.D Power & associates awards.

I have to drive up the interstate to fish no matter where I go. You would be amazed how much the motor still moves without the full length toter. The longer totter has the boat, motor, and trailer as one unit meaning if you hit a bump or go over railroad tracks then all move as one unit. If you use the shorter one then the motor will flex on the transom. That is where the name Transon saver came fron.

My Puma is the second side image unit I have. I did not get it on the bow because the trolling motor is constantly moving left and right so (I guessed) that the image quality would not be there. I got the best 700 series they offered without SI, I have no complaints. Soon I will be adding a transducer to the trolling motor for going deep!

Eufaula Water temp was 58 last weekend. Good fish are up in creeks (back half) in main lake area, did not go up river. Scumpernaug (sp) t-rigged trick worm. “Shad are shallow”some top water in the AM. Everyone throws a spinnerbait here year round. If you are comming to middle GA then get ahold of me! I have a 08 Puma it is my first performance bass boat. I love the boat. If you want a great answer the winner of the Bass Eliete series on Lake Erie was in a cat. If you can catch a repeat of the casting the you can see it in action first hand. One fella on here asked BCB how they performed at that particular tournament on Erie and BCB answered, we had a rub rail come loose. Many will think it is a big deal. I that tournament there were other manufactures that had thier large motors comming of their boats in the same conditions. There is allot of experience on here, when you say rough water what do you expect? How big is your lake and how big of waves are you looking at?

Like previously stated. When I was learning I did not touch the jackplate, just the trim. After I learned the stearing imputs to correct it I started to raise the jackplate. The higher the plate went the calmer the chine walking got (to a certin point). There is a sweet spot in there. On my trim gage it is a little better than half way. I cant get rid of the chine walking, but instead of steering imputs every 4 seconds its down to every 12 seconds. find a long lake and put in seat time. Figure out the steering imputs first then make little adjustments while driving. Good luck Rusty.

My 2 cents I know there would be a hole there but you may want to find a way to fill it and install a rams arm mount. Bass Cat installed ming at the factory and it allows me to move it to where ever I need it. It is really helpful fishing with a partner. You can move it if there is sun glare, keeps it out from behind the steering wheel too, and easier acess to the controls. Like I said you will have to fill the void from the old on or just put the cover on and leave in place. Good luck Rusty
