Will Zest or Irish Spring work too?
I know its right underneath my nose, but Im not finding the complete detailed results!
I especially like the traction pads on the front bow area.
One complaint on my P-III has always been the awkward step-in for paasengers while trying to come aboard from the dock after launching and parking the tow vehicle.
Is there more capacity in those triangular livewells?
Beauty!Noticed you made a considerable drive north to give Tommy and Rockwall Marine your business.Good decision!
Ive run a P-II and a P-III with a three battery set-up for many years.Just recently replaced the batteries in my P-III with two Trojan SCS200s and the cranker/third troller with a Trojan SCS225.Since 1996, Ive yet to run my batteries all of the way down, though I carry a small set of jumpers as others have suggested.Three batteries may be a riskier proposition with some of the newer DFI motors which require a little more juice to turn over.Im confident three Trojan SCS225s could carry the demand and still save you about #35 in the stern.
Need to do this too!Where oh where did that old post with the photos go?
HAMBYS!!!!!!!
Ditto what Mike said!Ive run three batteries in my P-III since 01 with a 36V TM set-up.The only wet-cell batteries I trust are Trojans.I run a SCS225 for the cranker/TM, and two SCS200s for the other TM batteries, though three SCS225s would be even better, depite the added weight.
Thanks panteraIV! The rod tubes in my 01 P-III are fraying & cracking at the rolled lip/edge and need to be replaced. Will give your idea a shot, as slipping rods, esp spinners, in and out of those tubes has always been a dicey proposition for me.
I finally took the plunge and installed them on my 01 P-III trailer! Also installed LED yellow and red side marker lamps on the trailer. Bought them from easternmarine.com, as they sell the Optronics line of LED lights, which Ive read many good reports, lots of variety, sizes, warranty, technology, reliability, etc. LED technology has come a long way in a few short years, and as costs gradually subside, will likely be OEM on most automobiles in the next few years. I feel safer towing the boat with LEDs, brake light response time is quicker, LED illumination is brighter and more intense, and no more worries about burned out tailamps. The tailight installation is a no-brainer, while the side marker light swap can be a little trickier. Good luck whatever you decide!
That Merc 200 3.0 is indeed a beast! A member in our Club has one on the back of his PIV, and it growls! Dont discount Yamahas V-Max 3.1 ltr 200, they have a lot of low-end grunt too! Thank goodness I have one on the back of my P-III as it helps get my tail heavy boat on plane quite nicely, esp with a 24 Tempest prop.
I have the flippin deck/compartment on my 01 P-III and love it! My fishing partners use it to store their tackle and prefer it over the smaller boxes in the back deck of other boats. The only neg is its a rather high step up/down going from the front deck to the drivers seat area.
Agree with Tiny & UncleMike, I pushed my 36V trolling motor hard all day in 25+ winds at a local tourney and towards the end of the day my pumps would not engage. Replaced my four year old Trojans a few weeks later with a new set of Trojan SCS200s and the problems went bye-bye!
Good post / question Cajun! I posted a similar question regarding prop options for my P-III in the PROPS section, on BCB, and a few other related boat/motor forums. Received feedback across the board such as: “Try a Yamaha 25 T1” “A Bravo 1 solved all my problems” “Go with either a 24 Tempest Plus or Trophy” “You MUST go to a 4-blade” yada, yada, yada……………. From what I gather from all these experts, we just need to experiment with the suggested options as all our boats / motors are rigged a little differently, thus no wrong or right answer. My challenge is finding a place that has these prop options available AND will let me “take em for a spin”
Give em all about three more years to shave a few pounds, then we might be on to something!
