JW, Thanks, what boat and motor do you run and what pitchs do you have? I have a 27 Trophy that I cant quite get to the limiter, a 25 thrust tech that hits the limiter to soon. Thanks again, MKG
Ok, I agree and disagree. I have a Cougar with a teleflex sonar and Humminbird 595 at the driver stastion, a matrix (through hul) and the SI on the troll motor. I use all of them. I fish mainly shallow (20 feet or less) lakes. The SI works best in deeper water. Really doesnt do any good in 5 feet.. BUT!!!!!!!!!! whil I am fishig the bank, the SI shows up stuff to the deep side. one warning, the 595 is usless for fish finding an sonar in shallow water. A 20 deg beam is to narrow. I use the 595 to navigate, the teleflex to watch the depth, the SI for SI, and the matrix dual beam to watch the bottom. And yes I fish while all this is happening. MKG
Let me know how it works. I have a 04 with 225 opti. I have tried a 27 trophy, cant quite get revs, a 26 tempest, little slow, and I have a 25 Power Tech, great out of the hole, hits revs a little to soon, but good overall. Wish there was a 26 High 5. Milton
I am not sure what a “troller” is. The transducer is mounted to the trolling motor head witha Humminbird bracket. the transducer wire is run up the shaft, and loosly ty wrapped to the steering cables to the screen that is mounted in the same location ans the old telefles circle graph (bit the dust) on the nose of the boat. The Troll motor is a Pro Tour cable steer, digital speed variable control Thanks MKG
Got it, I have played with it some more. The interferance goes away at full bypass. Hmmmmmmmmm . I will try jumping the neg to neg, but in the charging system, I think that is already there. Milton
Perfect, will try that today. What happened to cane poles and real worms? Now I have to learn about “doff Pulse and trollers” Thanks Milton
I did speak to motorguide, they admitted a problem and do have a fix they are not ready to release yet. pretty frustrating. I refuse to mount the transducer on the on the transom that would require driulling holes in the hull. MKG
One last thing, Motorguide strongly recommended to unplug the Troller or at least turn the foot pedal off on the PT BEFORE CHARGING (with charger or the big motor charging system). seems that there is a sense wire that stays hot all the time and if you hit it with a high amp draw or voltage, it could do damage. I imaging this is the same with the minkotta digital systems. Not sure I buy that, the batteries serve as a pretty good capaciter. Milton
I just went through the whole ordeal on my Cougar. I mounted the transducer on the right side of the jack plate. works great EXCEPT, withe the motor all the way down, it shields the view to the left. Triming the motor up a few degrees helps. I am still looking to optimize that location. The transducer is useless at any speed above 10 MPH due to the turbulance. I had a dual scan in the hull so I hooked up a transducer switch from Humminbird so I can switch over when the signal from the SI gets lost. Works great up to about 43mph, then to much turbulance under the hull. Side note, I had the SI on the trolling motor, (motorguide tour) had all kinds of interferance, Humminbird sent me a wiring modification kit and a new Nickle plated transducer NO CHARGE. Humminbird Rocks! milton
I was loosing a volt or more depending on load between the battery and the front of the boat. Occasionally, I would get a low voltage alarm on the front Humminbird. Most of the connections from the console switch panel back, had corrosion in the crimped part of the terminal. I replaced the ring terminals from the switch panel back to and including the battery (including the terminal board on the insde of the transom) and now I am withing a .25 volt front to back. Just spraying with WD does not get it, once the green stuff starts to grow its time to do something. SOme of the wires I had to cut back an inch to get to good wire. My boat is kept inside most of the time, but I am the second owner and a pro guide had it before me with I am sure it got rode hard and put up wet. Milton 04 Cougar, BTW, got caught in a horrible storm this weekend on the lake, felt as safe as a baby in its mothers arms
OK, if I read the manual corectly, there is no way to cal teh SPEEDOMETER fuel reading. I understand the Tach guage cal. But the Speedometer reads fuel tank LEVELS (2 tanks). The Tach guage reads % remaining and only ONE fuel tank. When I use the switch panel between the L(1) and R(2) tank I do get the corresponding change change in the Tach guage. This looks to be accurate.I get 0% in the right position and 70% on left On the speedometer I get 20 gallons tank 1 (pretty close) and 6 gallons tank 2, it is empty I promise This poses another question, does the 04 Cougar have the oil tank hooked up to the “tank 2” input on the tach guage. OR is the oil tank connected to both the tank 2 readings of the tach and speedo. Sorry to be so anal, I run 60 helicopters and fuel qty is ingrained in my mind as important. I never fill teh boat up (using a 27 p prop so it doesnot come out of the hole on full gas an a friend) so using the fuel used system doesnt really work. Thanks Milton
Can I ask why, BCB doesnt recommend the Stealth unit? Unsafe, ????? Really works pretty darn good. MKG

I have a 04 cougar FTD, 225 opti, I run a 27 trophy (2 plugs installed) , great when I am by myself half tanks on fuel, good hole shot, cruise at 60 mph at 4500 (4-5 MPG) or so, tops at 73 or 4. I also have a 25 power Tech, good if you have a load or dragging kids on a tube or something, but hits the limiter to easy. I really think the 26 of some type would be the best. MKG
Sorry, I have a cougar FTD with 225 opti. MKG
