I have a Pantera4 in La Crosse Wi and I get to the Twin Cities occationally. I would be more than happy to give a ride sometime. Heck, down deep you really know you want a P4 or a Puma anyway.

I lifted the drivers seat and took off the round cover over the tank. I saw what I thought was the sending unit below, had a yellow and red striped wire going to the middle, and a black wire also attached. I assumed this was the ground and the main wire to the under tank seat. Both seemed to be attached fine. Then I crawled up behind the dash. All the connections into the smart craft gauges looked good. also. I have the saddle tank option on my P4 as well, and if I change to either on the Basscat dash (the one with the aerator etc. also on it), it doesnt seem to matter, still reads fault. The connections to the dash all seem good to me as well. I am having trouble figuring out how it is wired. Does it go from the tanks to the dash then to the SmartCraft guages? Or is there some other y connection somewhere in the line? I assume it cant go from the tanks straight to Smartcraft as the dash panel controls which tank is being read. The boat is back at the shop today who installed the Humminbird, but any additional info I can get here and provide them may help diagnose it, and maybe save me some money. thanks again for all your help.

I was a die hard Shimano guy, but I bought a Revo this year, and it has become my favorite reel. The one underrated thing I love about the Revo is the shape of it, it tapers forward on the palming side, and lies very close to the rod (side to side), so it is the easiest palming reel I have ever owned. I dont know how it will hold up over the long haul, then again my two newest Citicas arent seeming to hold up that great already so maybe Shimano aint what they used to be either.

Moisture is present in the air, and the more air inside the tanks, the more condensation will occur. So, full tanks equals less chance for condensation. Any chance to keep water out of the tanks is a good idea in my opinion. Kent Ive heard that theory, then also heard the theory of the more gas you store in the boat, the more OLD gas you run through your engine in the spring. Thats the problem, competing theories.

Both Sears and Dual Pro claim a Dual Pro 3 bank at 15 amps per will be just fine?

Thanks for the reply. One more question. I assume I can use it for 2 nine hour fishing days the next two days and repair it next week (Got a tourney Sat. and a pre-fishing day tomorrow)? The fiberglass wont absorb water that fast will it? Are there any temporary fix product you would recommend that would dry overnight tonight? Thanks again.

O own a P4 so I might be a bit biased. That said, I would have no problem buying a P2, but I cant really convince my self the reason I would want a P2 over a P4 other than speed, and really what is it, 2-3 MPH? Never ridden in a P2, but most of the postings I see here seem to say the P4 rides better, and some say it is the best riding Cat. Maybe it is because I am rapidly approaching 40, but Id give up 3 MPH for a better ride. And I can get 70 with 2 guys in my P4, I dont need more than that. I would definitely miss the net storage of the P4, the beam is an inch smaller (though I cant tell i the deck is), the boat is 4 inches shorter, and teh rear storage compartments look smaller. I guess the cooler in the P2 looks bigger (which would be nice). What am I missing?

Im runnning a 25 Powertech 4 blade, it was a blueprinted prop and I would get 70 with 2 guys pretty consistenly, but after whacking it a few too many times on stumps and other stuff in the Upper Miss, I had it reworked and it is slightly slower, now in the upper 60s with 2 guys only hitting 70 downstream. i woudl say I am at 5600-5750 or so wide open depending on temp. I think I may have the motor a bit too high as well as it has quite a bit of torque when fast, but the performance has always seemed good so i was afraid to try and lower it.

Got all new Sears AGM batteries this spring. They have so far been the best batteries Ive ever had. I run a 36 volt TM and only use 3 batteries and I still have had a load of cranking power at the end of the day. Charge up much faster too.

I have two boys, age 5 and 3, and I really like the “cockpit” aspect of the boat. You sit more “down in” the boat” I guess you could describe it, than in many other boats, and I like how it gives the kids a little more of an in the boat feeling (which I also like when it gets rough out!). I did have the console out when I first got it, and if I didnt have a wife and kids I would still have it out, but the large consoles do provide alot of protection for your Co angler.

I have a P4, and have ridden ONCE in a classic. The P4 has a bigger wider front deck with more storage. To me, the ride was better in the P4. The Classic was faster, though the hole shots seemed about equal, but as stated, my Classic experience was one ride.

I actually like the Birds alot too (only have a small 797 right now), but the boards at BBC lately have a ton of people with new units or those that have upgraded to the down imaging software update who are having issues with shallow water reading (where I do alot of), and with cutouts and interuptions at the interlink box. I would really like the downimaging on the trolling motor however.Man, I am really struggling on what to do on the Bird vs. Lowarnce issue. One thing I KNOW I want to do is install a new one in the big hole in the dash left over from my X-15.
